Oh, what in the world would they think of us now? Would they have ever imagined that Christmas would transform into the stress that we often make it? A young woman in labor with her desperate husband, doing the best he could; their humble beginning; their bundled blessing ~ what would they think of it all now? Would they shake their heads and beg us not to miss it, again, this year? Would they urge us to understand that we won’t find Christmas at the mall; or under a tree; or beneath the mistletoe? Would they scold us to cease our frantic to-doing and let Christmas, the Spirit of Christmas, fill our hearts with the peace and the grace-filled relief of His presence instead? I wonder, if they wonder, what we’ve done with Christmas.
